Remember, dark colours make a room appear smaller whereas light colours will give the feel of space and light. If you have small or dark rooms use mirrors to bounce light from other areas to create a more spacious feel.
When purchasing furniture consider the size of the piece in relation to your room. Select plain fabrics that can be enhanced with colour and texture. Large furniture in a small room will make it appear cluttered and small. If possible keep your furniture in proportion to your room.

Enhance you room with just a few colour coordinated items to get instant effect. With the addition of some cushions and coordinated curtains this room takes on a totally different feel. An easy trick of many decorators is to choose furniture in plain colours or styles and enhance it with your favourite bedding, cushions, curtains and throws that can be changed as often as you wish, to give your room a whole new look.
Don’t get too bogged down with the ‘in look’. Choose colours because you like them and not because they are the latest fashion. Colour trends change at a feverish pace and most of us don’t have a hope of keeping up. |

Always match paint to fabrics where possible, never fabrics to paint. |
